To Build Muscle Without Weights is an option favored by many people to build lean muscle mass fast however, can we experience the same muscle gains by choosing an alternative to weightlifting?

Personally, from following weightlifting routines to build muscle since I was about 15 I can understand how boring and cumbersome this method of training can become.

This is so because excessive cardiovascular exercise in the form of running, rowing, swimming and so on just seeps away muscle. As a result, you may feel you don't have the freedom to train in other ways if you want to make any sort of significant muscle gains. Or can you?

My frustration of doing monotonous bench pressing, dead lifting and so on lead me so explore other forms of heavy resistance exercise that could have the potential to build muscle in a similar way to weightlifting.



Body Weight Exercises

Body weight exercise have to be one of the Best alternatives to building muscle mass without weights simply because you can harness you own bodyweight to act as the resistance in the exercises you are doing.

A typical example of Body weight exercises are;


Pull-Ups
Chin-ups
Lateral Raises
Push-Ups
Elevated Push-Ups
Weighted Push-Ups
Plyometric Push-Ups
V Push-Ups
Single leg Squats
Up Downs
Most Abdominal Exercises such as Crunches and so on

The only downside of these exercises is that you can’t apply the same kind of heavy resistance that is needed to see any significant muscle growth.

You will see some gains but nothing close to what you would see if you followed a weightlifting routine that encompassed many heavy compound lifts such as Squats, Deadlifts, Shoulder presses, bench presses, rows and so on.

So are there any other methods to build muscle without weights?

Well, we've seen the downside of body weight exercises. They simply don't apply the kind of resistance we need to build muscle so we need some different.

My only alternative would following a Strong Man circuits that require just shifting heavy loads from place to place in general.
