Girls weightlifting
With all the benefits why hasn't female weightlifting ever been very popular?!
The benefits for Girls weightlifting are numerous especially in workout routines for toning!
Girls and weightlifting are two words that are infrequently used in the same sentence which is surprising in the modern age where we are much more liberal and free to do and express what we want.
So, why is it that girls don’t follow the ever escalating interest boys have with weightlifting? Surely enough girls engage in sports and other activities where weightlifting would be beneficial to them.
Sure, males tend to engage in much more power based sports such as football, rugby and so on, but still in all so do women, particularly compete in sports where males use weightlifting to increase performance and yet women tend not to. This can be sports such as rowing, track and field events, hockey etc.
In my own experience, I seldom see any girls in the weightlifting areas of the gym I go to. This is more apparent in the free weights area where men are the ones who are predominantly lugging around the big weights.
It almost seems socially unacceptable for girls to be seen in the free weightlifting area in my gym which I think is a real shame due to the benefits a lot of girls can get from lifting weights on a regular basis.
I think the primary reason why girls don’t lift weights 3 or 4 or 5 times per week like a lot of male weightlifters is because of the common misconception that they might transform into a big bulky version of themselves.
So, really, I believe answer as to why many girls don’t engage in weight training is as a result of image and how lifting weights might affect their image.
I can’t really argue too much with a girl’s fear of getting big and bulky especially as a young girls growing up who may feel self conscious enough as it is. However, this will usually never happen if you training in the right way.
If you train correctly the only things you as a girl will notice is the hugely positive impact it can have on your self-esteem and performance in sports to name a few.
